Hauser & Wirth is now (until december 18th) showing in London, Louise Bourgeois late art works made with fabrics.
According to H&W, through sewing Louise Bourgeois attempted to effect psychological repair: ‘I always had the fear of being separated and abandoned. The sewing is my attempt to keep things together and make things whole’.
Louise Bourgeois, probably the most important woman painter and sculptor of our times, was born on Christmas day 1911 in Paris and died recently, on May 31st 2010.
